New Letterpress Wedding Invite Giveway & Winner Announcement From Our Last Wedding Giveaway!

Our Mayfair invitation. The next design we will be giving away to one lucky winner! Pictured here is a flat print version of the design.

First off, a big thank you to everyone who entered our competition! We continue to be thankful for all the support we have gotten as we start out and grow our letterpress business.

Second, to everyone else who entered our contest, don’t despair, WE ARE HAVING ANOTHER GIVEAWAY!!! So, please re-enter. To enter the giveaway please email your name to caroline@pressedinbrooklyn. In fact, we will be having quite a few giveaways as we need to letterpress all of our designs for samples.

Third, we have a winner. Congratulations, VERONICA M. We look forward to creating beautiful invitations for your special day!

This time round, we are offering our Mayfair design. Classic and clean, it is named for and inspired by an upscale neighborhood in London. Same as last time, we will be giving away 20 free letterpress invitations and 20 free letterpress RSVP cards. Envelopes will not be included. However, we will provide you with the dimensions and a link to where you can purchase matching envelopes. We plan to letterpress this invitation on bright white, 118lb Savoy paper, with black ink. The name of the couple and RSVP will be in the ornate script as shown in all the photos. However, we have yet to decide if we will print the small text in the ornate font as shown or in the more modern, sans-serif  AnoHalf font, which can be seen as font Sans 1 in our Wedding Invitation Catalogue for reference. Also, same as before, the invites and RSVP cards are totally FREE, the only cost will be shipping. The only catch? You need to be ok with us photographing the invitations for use on our site. Of course, if you require more than 20 of each item, you can certainly purchase more. Also, we have been experimenting with the use of Swarovski crystals on this design. This giveaway does NOT include the crystals, but if you would like to upgrade and purchase the crystal option, you will certainly have that option.

The deadline for entering this giveaway is March 20th and we will announce a winner on March 23rd. We will go to press at the beginning of April, so the winner will receive their invites by mid-April.

Our Japanese inspired letterpress wedding invite, with Swarovski crystals…and our wedding invitation give away!

Our Hyogo letterpress card. This cherry blossom pattern is based on antique kimono patterns.

After a bit of a break for the holidays, we are back! Just before we went on vacation, we printed these lovely invites. The bride-to-be picked deep red, black and sliver for her colors. To amp it up a little, we also added Swarovski crystals. We were very happy with the end result!

Also, we are having another LETTERPRESS WEDDING INVITATION GIVE AWAY!! We will be giving away 20 letterpress wedding invitations and RSVP cards. They will be letterpressed on our lush 118lb Savoy paper. All you have to do to enter the giveaway is email and enter your name to Caroline, her email can be found here. The deadline to enter is February 25th and we will announce the winner, here on our blog, on February 28th. It is based on an antique, French pharmacy tin from the early 1900s. We are in the process of letterpressing and photographing all of our designs for our website, so the winner will need to be ok with us photographing their invitation. Of course, additional invites can be ordered if needed.

Letterpress Business Stationery with Swarovski Crystal

Our two-color letterpress stationery with a Swarovski crystal detail.

We recently completed a job for a new business, Red Soles Reborn. Crystal, the owner of Red Soles Reborn, takes shoes and gives them a completely new look with the use of different size and color Swarovski crystals. Like the Swarovski crystals we use on our stationery, she applies every single one by hand, one at a time. While her specialty is Christian Louboutin shoes, she can transform any shoes from ordinary to extraordinary. Our favorite part? While Crystal can re-create an existing shoe, the real fun is commissioning her to make something completely original!

Since Red Soles Reborn is a luxury service, Crystal was looking for stationery for her business that reflected her high end product. She came to us at Pressed to create something special. Working with her website designer, a logo was created and from there we designed her suite. Crystal ordered both flat printed and letterpress pieces. To enclose with each order, beautiful flat printed “Thank You” cards in a Pantone color to match the famous red soles, with plenty of room for Crystal to write to her client. And for follow-up notes, promotions and reminders for her past clients, luxe, folded, 2 color letterpress cards printed on our 100% cotton 118 lb paper, finished with what else but a tiny Swarovski crystal. You can check out more of our letterpress stationery and wedding invites at

Our Letterpress Crystal Skull Halloween Card – an inside look at letterpress design from start to finish

Our latest design. A skull made out of dots on our new silver and gold shine paper. We were excited to press on this paper for the first time last night!

Last night we had a very busy night pressing. We had a number of jobs to do and we really wanted to press our new skull invites in time for Halloween! We are thrilled with how they turned out, especially considering how much time it took to draw them. We are also very happy with the shine samples we were given by Reich paper. They really do have amazing paper! We have our skulls up for sale on our Etsy site.

A close up shot of our skulls. A million little dots.

The front and back of the folded letterpress card have design on them. We thought it would be interesting to have the skull pattern extend to the back.

Experimenting with Swarovski crystal on the skull. Still not sure this is where we want to place them.

We also thought it might be interesting to share the letterpress process from start to finish, that is from concept to printed product. Below are photos, step-by-step of how this card was created.

We really wanted to design something rather ornate and grown-up. No cute Halloween card for us! So we found an photo of a skull from an old, Victorian medical book.

We have also been rather inspired by the artwork of Chuck Close. From far away, it looks like a single image, close up you see all the millions of dots that create it. Check out for this and many other Chuck Close images.

In Illustrator, create a grid and a few dots as symbols and assign a dot size to a corresponding pixel/shade of grey. Pour yourself a glass, or two, or three of wine because this part takes forever!

Once FINALLY finished, create a plate. We put as many things as possible on a plate and then cut the individual designs out once we go to press.

This is what the plate looks like when we get it back.

Our skull inked and ready to print.

Lovely Wedding Hair Accessories by E. Kammeyer

A 1920s inspired hair comb made of a plume of white rooster feathers. Hand beaded with Swarovski crystals.

A little while back we did a post on a beautiful, hand- beaded headband that Caroline purchased from Emily while we were at the Astoria Flea Market. Since then we have been meaning to do a full post on the amazing, hand-made, wedding hair accessories she creates. Not only do we love her work, but we also love supporting local NYC artists and businesses as well! Here we have posted a few of our favorites. All images are from her website.

If you are interested in learning how to create these pieces of wearable art for yourself, Emily teaches classes as well. Contact her to find out her schedule. If you are interested in purchasing her hair accessories, you can visit her shop.

Our Swarovski Crystal Spider Halloween Card

Happy Halloween!

We just finished flat printing our crystal spider cards. The design is rather minimal, but for a little bling, we added a black Swarovski crystal to the spider. That little detail really makes it pop.
So, basically, after we finished drawing the design and flat printing the card, we used tweezers and clear drying craft glue to hand attach each crystal to each card. Doing a detail like this doesn’t require lots of materials, but it does require lots of patience!
At the beginning of October we plan to take this design to letterpress. We think it is going to be really amazing in letterpress with crystal. We’ll post a photo of that too, when it is finished.

Experimenting with Swarovski crystals on our wedding invitations

Experimenting with crystals on our Lyndhurst wedding invitation design.

We’ve been working with Swarovski crystals on our wedding invitations to add a little extra sparkle! Obviously, crystals and shiny stuff are the first things you think of when you hear the word “wedding.” After love and commitment, of course. Take a look at some of the photos below  – we’ll be posting more photos as we order and experiment with different colors and sizes.

A close up of our Lyndhust design. We are experimenting on flat printed cards. Once we have our crystal patterns set, we look forward to seeing them come to life on our letterpress versions of these wedding invitations.
