Our Antique French Letterpress Wedding Invitations

Our Avignon design in letterpress

This Saturday we letterpressed the invitations for our first contest winner! We are so excited with the way these invitations turned out. The design is classic and simple, so very French. The design is, in fact, inspired by an antique French pharmacy tin. We believe there are sources of beautiful design inspiration all around us…we just have to keep our eyes open!

Our neighbors have beautiful lavender flowers growing all through their back yard, of which they were happy to let us cut some!

This invitation measures 6.25×6.25 inches. Here we printed it on our ultra-lush, 236lb, brilliant white, Savoy paper. This stuff is amazing! We can’t wait to print our next round of invitations!

This design can also be made more rustic with the addition of twine and a kraft paper envelope.

The RSVP card. This paper is so thick, it makes for an amazing, super crisp and deep impression.

Third, we have a winner for the last giveaway. Congratulations,  SHAHANA. We look forward to creating beautiful invitations for your special day!

FIRST GIVEAWAY – THE OBI DESIGN

Beautiful Japanese paper creates the Obi.

Invitation without the Obi. This is flat print to give an idea of what it will look like, but both invite and RSVP will be done in letterpress.

This time round, we are offering our Obi design. It is named for and inspired by the gorgeous Japanese sashes that are used as part of a traditional kimono outfit. In the first photo, you can see the invitation is wrapped in beautiful Japanese paper and tied with a bow. The RSVP card is out so you can see how it looks, but typically it would be placed under the obi, hidden. In the second photo, the invitation is unwrapped and displayed.

To enter, email your name to caroline@pressedinbrooklyn.com

Same as last time, we will be giving away 20 free letterpress invitations and 20 free letterpress RSVP cards. Envelopes will not be included and neither will the obi/Japanese paper. However, we will provide the winner with the dimensions and a link to where you can purchase matching envelopes. We will also provide the winner with a link to where Japanese paper can be purchased, as well as give the winner the dimension info of how we cut this paper. This give-away is perfect for a crafty couple!

We plan to letterpress this invitation on bright white, 118lb Savoy paper. We will print in black or charcoal and plan to use the fonts as shown.

Also, same as before, the invites and RSVP cards are totally FREE, the only cost will be shipping. The only catch? You need to be ok with us photographing the invitations for use on our site. Of course, if you require more than 20 of each item, you can certainly purchase more.

The deadline for entering this giveaway is May 4th and we will announce a winner on May 8th. We will go to press around mid-May, so the winner will receive their invites around the end of May.

Feel free to enter both giveaways!

Custom Letterpress Stationery – our Japanese inspired Okayama design

This weekend we pressed a custom job using our Okayama design.

Here are a few photos of one of our latest jobs. We letterpressed this custom stationery on 118lb, Savoy, natural white paper. We think the final result is lovely. The design is our Japanese inspired, Okayama pattern. It is based on antique Japanese textile designs. It really has quite an elegant look and we also love the combination of the blue/grey ink with the slightly off-white paper.

Custom Letterpress Notecards for a First Communion

A Rosary in deep purple for a First Communion note card.

We were recently commissioned to design and press notecards for the daughter of a client. It was for her First Communion and they wanted a design that incorporated a Rosary. We really like how they turned out!

Also, we have had tons of great entries for out LETTERPRESS WEDDING INVITE GIVE AWAY! Thanks so much to everyone for visiting our site, taking a look at our work and supporting us as we get started! We are super excited to draw a name and go to press. We have never seen the Avignon design in letterpress before and there is something so wonderful about seeing a design in actual letterpress for the first time.

Our Custom French Bulldog Letterpress Notecards

Our French Bulldog note cards and matching pressed envelopes.

Right before the holidays, we received an order for custom French Bulldog stationery. We were very happy with how the order turned out, especially the bright orange pop of color. We printed them on our ultra-heavy weight, savoy 236lb paper, which we love! Our Frenchie and English Bulldog cards seem pretty popular. We plan to design some more doggie cards for different breeds in the future.

We finally got around to uploading some photos of the project and wanted to share them with everyone.

Also, don’t forget to check out our free letterpress wedding invite giveaway!

Gold Letterpress Thanksgiving Card

Our letterpress gold turkey card.

When we went to press on Friday night to print our order for gold coasters, we thought it would be a good opportunity to press our new Thanksgiving turkey cards, too. We think they turned out great. They have a kind of ’60s look to them. We printed them on 118lb Savoy paper and the cards are folded and come with a matching envelope. We already have them up in our Etsy shop for anyone interested in purchasing them.

We also experimented with gold ink on our Odeon paper and it looks great, too! The card in the background is printed on Odeon paper.
